What is Wordstone?
Wordstone is a spelling adventure game for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5-11). In its world, Malgrin the Unspeller has shattered the Wordstone and flung its eight shards into eight realms. To win them back, young heroes cast spells, and casting a spell means spelling a word. Every battle, rescue and puzzle is a spelling challenge, so practice is the adventure itself.
How it works
Spell to cast
Each spell is a word. Hear it, then build it from letter tiles, sound boxes or the keyboard, depending on the child's level.
Words that fit each child
A short placement finds where each child is. Words follow the order schools teach phonics, and tricky words come back for review until they stick.
A world to explore
Forests, deserts, islands and mountains to explore, pets to rescue and befriend, towns with shops and spell libraries, and a quest across the realms.
Gentle by design
Mistakes are part of learning: a missed word still casts a weaker spell, and the game shows the right spelling. No timers by default, no buzzers.
